Nuclear Security Officer (Materials and Facilities)

Job Description

Main Job Purpose

The main purpose of this position is to coordinate the provision of technical input to the overall development and consolidation of drafting regulations and guidance publications in the area of Security of Nuclear and Radioactive Materials in Transport and Handling. In addition, he/she reviews and assesses security systems and measures of Nuclear and Radiological Facilities, as well as conducting inspections, in line with ENRRA’s Integrated Management System.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development and consolidation of drafting regulations and guidance publications in the area of Nuclear and Radioactive Materials Security,
  • Participate in reviewing the nuclear security plan and the transport security plan submitted by licensees, conduct assessment for the physical protection systems and measures, and report the conclusion of that plan in accordance with relevant ENRRA’s regulations and adopted international standards.
  • Participate in assessing the  physical protection systems for Nuclear and Radiological facilities and for the transport of Nuclear and/or radioactive materials to determine vulnerabilities in the system against the DBT and assure meeting the national regulations.
  • Participate in Conducting inspections on the security of Nuclear and radioactive materials; and nuclear and radiological facilities in accordance with ENRRA inspection plan and procedures.
  • Maintain the database of Nuclear and/or Radioactive Materials on the Department level.
  • Participate in the review of all the documentation related to transport permits, import and export permits to ensure the validity of the applied security systems.
  • Participate in the implementation of activities directly related to physical protection upgrade inside nuclear and radiological facilities.
  • Contribute to the development of the Integrated Nuclear Security Support Plans (INSSP) and Technical Cooperation projects, and to the implementation of relevant capacity building activities identified therein.
  • Carry out other tasks assigned by the Head of Department/ Head of Sector.

Qualifications

Education

  • B.Sc. in Engineering, preferable Electrical, Communication, or Electronic.

Experience

  • Relevant experience up to 2 years, preferable in the area of low current systems
  • Fair Awareness of IAEA nuclear security series.

Computer Skills

  • Professional computer skills, including a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint;

Languages

  • Excellent command of English language (Oral and Written)

Training/ Certificates

  • Familiar with Auto-CAD & REVIT is preferable
